With in excess of 5495 clients on our Foodbank’s database, our foodbank is a vital service to the surrounding community. Over the last year, Delta’s Foodbank has provided enough food for 1317 adults and 1514 children – 2858 people in total (including repeat requests). Providing a variety of nutritious food to those in need, the foodbank is operated through the combined efforts of three volunteers and our three Community Workers. The Foodbank is often the initial reason clients may come in to contact with the Delta Community Support Trust. From here, through discussions with our Community Workers or through selfreferrals many clients go on to receive additional services from us such as budgeting advice, advocacy, cultural work, our empowerment courses, or our community meal. Alternatively, they may be referred on to appropriate other services. We are extremely grateful to the Wool Ladies Trust, New World Stanmore Road, Pak ‘n’ Save Moorhouse Avenue, and Kidd’s Bakery among others for their generous regular donations of food.

Delta Inn General Services
The Delta Inn

This is our much loved weekly community meal now in its tenth year. Our regular patrons, averaging about 50 people weekly, enjoy generous, delicious hot meals and soup or dessert for only $2 each. The Inn is more than just a means to a cheap, good-quality meal. It is a quality community event full of laughter, friendship and sharing. Occasionally speakers with requested topics before the meal is served help to inform our community. We are beginning to add some exciting ethnic dishes to our menus through our Cultural Community Worker. We remain extremely grateful to our six volunteer cooks and to the generosity of Simply Vege who regularly donate quality food to us for this meal.

Our Volunteers

Our excellent team of approximately 45 volunteers continue to add great value to our services and relationships. As well as performing their tasks effectively our volunteers provide the even more essential care and support that each of our clients need when facing various crises. Training is provided onsite and volunteers are offered the opportunity to participate in and contribute to our services through our monthly volunteer feedback meetings.

Budget Advise

We offer three trained advisors who work on site to support and help clients with this free service. In today’s environment it is important to make wise financial decisions and to effectively plan for all financial contingencies. Below - Andrea Tisch one of our dedicated advisors discusses a client’s monthly budget.

Footprints Cafe

Now in its third year of operation, Delta’s Footprints Cafe provides a warm, friendly, relaxed environment in which customers can relax and have some time out, make new friends (or meet with old ones), and enjoy delicious, cheap food all at the same time. Games, magazines and a small library are available for use for those who want to relax and the venue is currently utilised by several groups. Our data projector and big screen are often used to provide entertainment such as DVD movies or music. Operated largely through the efforts of volunteers, the Cafe is continually growing and developing.

Examples of the delicious food on offer include:

  • Filter Coffee or Tea for 20c
  • Soup and Roll for 50c
  • Muffin and Coffee for 50c

  • The Cafe is open from 10am-2pm,
