The Evergreen Club
A day programme for the elderly and their caregivers.
The Evergreen Club began on the 6th September 2005 with 7 members. It has since grown to 45 members who come on either a Tuesday, Friday or, beginning in November, a Thursday.

The members enjoy a variety of activities e.g. exercises, quizzes, craft, music, walking, petanque, and in the past few months, we have enjoyed regular visits from the local Richmond kindergarten. The members also enjoy the hot meal at lunch time especially the special feasts at Christmas and mid-winter. The only sad note has been the passing of three of our members this year.

NEWS FLASH
We are excited about the new partnership which The Evergreen Club has negotiated with the Canterbury District Health Board. This takes the form of a contract to provide day care for sixteen clients five days a week. To provide this full service we are refurbishing our upstairs ‘games room” and installing a lift. This is entailing much planning, fundraising and support from all Delta staff. Congratulations to Trish Ducker and her Evergreen team for having their work recognized by the wider aged care community in Christchurch.
Jeremy, Lindsay and Trish check out the plans for refurbishment and where the new lift will be installed to give access to the “games room” on the second floor. A contract just signed with the Canterbury District Health Board assures ongoing care for the elderly.
