BRINGING THE WORLD TO NEW ZEALAND
In my role as a cultural worker I help those new to New Zealand feel supported and more at home in our country. This may mean helping them to find their way around New Zealand customs and culture, advocating on behalf of them at government departments or supporting them as they learn to adjust to life here.

As well as helping individuals in this way, Delta runs a Social English class once a week on Tuesday afternoons for those wanting to improve their English in a relaxed, informal setting. In the warmer months, there is a women’s “Out and About” social group which runs once a week. This is a group that helps refugee women gain confidence in using, for instance, the bus service and interact with their surroundings.
